Why are early
check-ups important?

Regular dental care from an early age is decisive for lifelong dental health. Early on, your child should become familiar with daily oral hygiene and visits to the dentist, even before damages occur. At DentiMeer in Wiesbaden, we can recognize pathological changes early as well as protect and strengthen dental health.

Healthy milk teeth are important for permanent teeth to remain healthy, whereas tooth damage or early loss of milk teeth can have negative consequences. Therefore, our motto is: Prevention is always better than treatment.

When do check-up appointments start?

The recommended dental check-up appointments for toddlers are:

  • 6 to 8 months, after your child’s first milk teeth have grown
  • 6 to 18 months, after your child’s first milk molars have grown
  • Around 30 months, after your child’s set of milk teeth is complete

What do the check-ups include?

The objective of these initial appointments is to become acquainted with visiting the dentist without fear and to build trust in our pediatric dental office in Wiesbaden. Additionally, in this way we can recognize possible tooth position deviations early on and provide you with important information about dental prophylaxis. This includes above all suggestions on how to prevent the dangers caused by bottle sucking, advice about appropriate pacifiers (or their avoidance), recommendations for a proper diet, instructions on how to handle the toothbrush for toddlers and the correct use of fluoride products.

Decayed milk teeth in toddlers under 3 years of age need special attention. Fast treatment and good follow-up care are very important because these children can have a higher cavities risk in the future as well. Fast dental treatment is also necessary if an accident damages teeth.

If a treatment is needed for your child, it is important to tell them that sincerely, but only that their tooth will be repaired. Everything else - i.e. how the treatment will take place – we will explain to your child in the dental office with child-friendly language.

Also make sure that you do not pass on your own fear to your child and to facilitate a positive interaction during the visit to the dentist. We will support you in this!

Our entire DentiMeer team is specialized in dealing with children and will empathetically introduce your child to the world of dentistry.
